Attended by three maids in Empire gowns of camellia pink chiffon patterned with posies of deeper shaded rosebuds and forget me nots, with touches of green, Joan Frances, younger daughter of Mrs N. Gallien, Hastings, ands the late Mr J. Rees, of Melboiftne, was married to James Alistair, only son of the late Mr and Mrs A. Peddie, of Hastings. The eeremony was solemnised by the Rev. K. Liggett,^ at 'St. Matthew's Church, Hastings, last evcning._ ltichest magnolia satin was chosen by the bride for her wedding gown, which was simply fashioned with a 'very long train ending with three points from each of which was an embroiderCd spray of gold and cream lilies. Matching embroidery finished the square neckline in front and edged the little eollar at the back, while the long fitting sleeves were slightly full at the shoulders. Her plain tulle seil was the same shade as her gown and was arranged with a little coronet of ■ two cream caniellias. She carried a sheaf of cream camellias with tiny flecks of pink, pink blossom aifd fern. The ^ three maids were the Misses . Marjorie Rees, the bride's sister (chief), Muriel Peddie, the bridei groom'a sister, and Ida Sharpin, the
bride's cousin. Their gowns of pink flowered chiffon were mounted on satin in the same shade and were cut on fitting lines with tiny buttons from neck to hem in front. The neckline was edged with a small collar caught'* in front with a deep pink camellia spray and the sleeves were short and very 'full at the shoulders. Silver shoes were worn and each maid wore a coronet of pink camellias and carried a sheaf of pink and white camellias, pink blossom and fern. The best man was Mr Hector MeKenzie, and the groomsmen were Messrs Togo Kirkley and T. Small. Th® bride was given "away by Mr R. Gallien. During the eeremony Mr C. B. Spinney presided at the organ and played the wedding marches and the hymn, "The - Voice That Breathed O'er Eden." A very jolly reception was held at the Barrie Studio, the guests being received by the bride's mother, Mrs N. Gallien, who wore a gown of mulberry lace with a black. fur coat and! black hat and carried a posy in autumn tints. When Mr and Mrs J. A. Peddie left by car for their honeymoon in New Plymouth and Auckland, Mrs Peddie travelled in a frock of rust afghalaine trimmed with ivory satin, a rust hat and three-quarter dark brown Russian coat. ' Their future home will be in Havelock North. Among the guests were:— ? Mrs A; Renouf, the bride's sister, who wore a blue frock and short white fur coat. Mrs Roy Gallien, black matelasse gdwn and black coatee trimmed with whitq fur. Mrs L. Gallien, burgundy frock and a short fur coatee.
