Woods—McLaren
Levin was the scene of a very pretty wedd^ng, on (Hiursday evening last, wlien Miriam McLaren, only daugliter of Mrs Cullen Powell, "Mount Lofty," Levin, and the late Mr D. W . McLaren, was married to George F. Woods, only son of Mr and Mrs F. Woods, of Foxton, in St .Mary's Anglican Church, the officiating Minister being the Rev. J. C. Davies. Kntering the churcn escorted by Mr E. P. Hay, of Wellington, the bride made a lovely picture in a beautiful Faris model gown of duil sheen satin with insets of needlerun lace in the bodice and also enhancing tho long oval train. The full sleeves shaped in-to a pointed effect over the hands were also fasliioned of lace. The plain high round neckline was relieved with a beautiful white rose. She also wore a handsoine veil of all-over lace falling to form a long train, and she carried a sheaf of cyclamen, orchids and carnations, which gave a delightful pale pink effect. The three bridesmaids, Misses Mary Hoggard, Bobbie Hope-Gibbons, and Neiiie Woods, were gowned alike in iceblue chitfon velvet frocks designed by Miss Bobby Hope-Gibbons, and made with low-cut cross-over necklines, full skirts ff owing to Slight .trains and long *tight fitting sleeves. Their head1dresses were in the form of ice-blue veils clasped in the front by a spray of beautiful pink carnations% and eack carried a sheaf also of carnations. Mr D. W. McLare'n, of Wellington, brother of the bride, w^s best man, and Messrs L. J)avidson, of Whangarei and L. Chetwin. of Wellington were groomsmen. The ushers at the church were Messrs H. L. McLaren and K. Lemmon, and Mr J. Hay field was at s the organ. The guests afterwards went on to an informal reception at the Civic Lounge, where they were received by the bridc's mothef, who was wearing a model gown of brown satin, her ensemble being completed by an exquisite autumn tirited posy. The bridegroom's mother wore a fur coat over a wine coloured frock with hat to match and posy to tone. At the reception Mr Jack Bobertson acted as toastmaster. Smith, Mr and Mrs Perreau (Foxton), Mr and Mrs H. J. Jones, Mr and Mrs F. Routley, Mr and Mrs F. Allen, Mrs F. Davies, Mr and Mrs Jack Coulston, Mr and Mrs lfilliott (Manakau), Misses B^ty Wilkinson, Phyllis Staples, Pauline Walsh, Doris Nicholson, Beryl Davies, Rjta Thane, May McLeod, Nola Witt, Ngaire Lynch, Messrs B. HopeGibbons, Jack Irvine, Pat Kane, Mick Brown, Eric Davies, Gordon and Douglas Sorrensen. The bride travelled in an ensemble of turquoise blue with toque®.and accessories to. match. Among the many beautiful wedding gifts was a car, the gift of the bride's mother, in which the ha-ppy coupie left on their Jioneymoon tour of the North lsland. They will make their future home on Llie .bridegroom's farm at Motuiti. •; $
