GRAND OPENING OF WOOLSHED

Our Owu Correspondent.)

Central H.B. Gipsy Assembly

(From

_ ONGAONGA, Last Nglit. Seven o'clock 011 Saturday e\euing saw dozens of ears headed in the direction of Ongaonga, where the C. H. B. Gipsy Tribe assembled to open Mr Albert Hutt's new woolshed. This was done in a very festive manner. Original and gay were the costumes of the lads and lassies who hearkened from the wide open spaces in response to the Big Chiefs command to come and be fieeced. Many travelled long distances to be in attendance, and assisted in making this night of nights such a successful and novel entertainment that it will go down in the annals of Ongaonga history of social activity. Music for dancing was supplied by Mrs Meta, of Waipawa, and niany items, justrumental and vocal, were rendered by the yarious members of the clans. Outside many gathered round the large camp fire, where saveloys and cheerios soon made- their disappearance between bursts of community singing, while inside in a specially-arranged portion of the slied, card enthusiasts were busily engaged in taking each other down. All announcements to the clans were heralded by the firing of a sports pistol, which started every member off the mark in pursuit ,of the form of enjoyment according to his or her taste. The laughter and merriment of all was certainly the greatest feature of the evening, being proo( positive to the members of the Couneii of the Ongaonga Order that their efforts in effecting a re-union campus were not in vain. A health germ of- three good hearty cheers were accorded Brother L. Tbylor, at present a patient in the Waipukurau Haspital. At midnight the final phase of the evening was the handing round of a deliglitful supper provided by the lady members, followed by the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" and God Save t^e King."
