ALL BLACK TRY-OUTS

Some Players Strike Truer Form

{ By Telegraph-

WELLINGTON, Last Night Two further games in the series of All Black trials in prepaTation for the Springbok visit were played at Athletic Park to-day and were successful in Tevealing somewhat truer form among a number of players than were Saturday 'S( games. The ground was still firm but a northerly of half gale tforce troubled the kickers. The third trial, A Possibles r. B Probables, was drawn 16 — 15 and was similar to the first game on Saturday in the patchy run of most of the play and again the trpuble was in the lack of jinitiative among the five-eighths with the exception of Crossman. 4 * J. Thurston (Wellington) replaced Griffitha as the Probables' eecond fiveeighth and D. Paterson (Wellington) played instead of L. H. Edwards on the wing. There was little to choose be- j tween the packs but the ^Possibles' ffack line was more aggressive'fo: spite of the hooking superiority of Lambourn over Dalton. » Crossman gave a glimpso of real form and Solomon a poorer dispiay than on Saturday. McAuliffe was a sound half and there was little to choose between the full-backs. Milliken was the b6st all-round forward. -McClenaghan led the ' loose" rushes, and Parkhill, Andrews and Dalton were prominent. The fourth game was as the scores indicate wholly one-sided. D Probables beat C Possibles by 4S to 8. With the former team so strongly on the offensive throughou't its members had an excellent opportunity to shine and Mitchell in the backs, Russell at half and Rankin in the forwards were outstanding. Dick was a big success on the wing, scoring five tries. Easton was making some fine kicks but appeared to be baffled by the wind when kicking from the left side of the ground. Of the Possibles Dixon was the pick of the backs, Clotkier was disappointing at half-back, Orman hooked with succcss and Jackson, following up hard, was useful in the xo.ck.
