PAKOWHAI ROAD SEALING
"Now Being Discussed By Engineers" MR LOGAN'S ASSURANCE An assurance that the Hawke's Bay County Council intended to complete the sealing of the 3J miles of Pakowhai road in accordance with the wishes of the orchardists and ratepayers in that locality was sought by Mr W. Tucker at the meeting in Napier this morning of the Hawke's Bay County Council. Mr Tucker raised the question in view of the fact that the contractor had almost completed his present eontract. "Mr Tucker said that.it was now possible to have some definite conception of the Rivers Board' s proposals, and he suggested that at least half-a-mile be completed where the bulk of the growers were situated. "I have had a number of inquiries by telephone," he said, "and I would like some definite assurance from this meeting that the 3-J miles will be done, and that the matter is now in hand with this end in view." The question was raised as to where the present 3-mile limit ended, and Mr Tucker said that it would do so near the church. Mr C. Lassen : It is advisable that it should go right up to the ramp. Mr Tucker: What we want is an assurance that - the work will be done. The chairman, Mr F. B. Logan: It has always been understood that when the Rivers Board scheme allowed us to know the position exactly, then the work would be gone on with and completed. The matter is now- being discussed by the engineers; Mr Tucker : That is satisfactory enough for the present.
