HASTINGS HARRIERS

Haumoana Run Over Eight Miles On Saturday the Hastings Harrier Club held its weekly run from the residence of Mr and Mrs E. Chapman, Haumoana. In view of the inter-club ° race against Mastorton at Masterton next Saturday, the run was a fairly easy pack oue. The trail, which was about eight miles, led aiong the Tukituki road for about a quarter of a mile and theu cut off tbrougli the vallev down to the riverbed. Tho river was followed for about 1J milo and then tho trail led back to tho hills, going through the sholter belt on the St. Lawrence property and back over the hills for about 34 miles, finally coming out on tlie Tukituki road, about half a mile from "Awarua." Tho trail was laid by B. Anderson and N. Chapman. The first home in the various pac'ks were: — Fast pack: A. Hunt 1, P. Barrer 2, L Dyer 3. ' Slow pack: N. Taylor 1, H. Marshall 2, E. Heaton 3. Junior pack: W. Ludvigsen 1, C. Young 2. At the conclusion o£ the run the club members were the guests of Mr and Mrs Chapman at a very enjoyable afternoon tea. Mr A. Eobertson, club eaptain, on bchalf of tho members, thankcd the hosts for the invitation to rpn from their home. Members also took the opportunity of welcoming back the former club eaptain, Colbourno Wright, who is at present in Hastings on his annual leavn. THURSDAY SECTION. The Thursday runners field their second sealed handicap from tho Hastings racecourse over one lap of the championship course of 34 miles. Taking advantago of the perfect weather conditions. I. Manley gaincd tho fastest fcimc. Results were as under: — I. Alanley (3m. 30s.), 17m 1 R. Tucker (4m.)j 17m. 15s 2 J. O'Shea- (3m.), lSm. 5s. 3 A. Perfect (6m.) 18m. 10s. 4 G. A. de Frere (4m. 20s.), 19m. 44s. 5 Next Thursday there is to be a mass run from Windsor Park at 2.30 p.m.
