Funds for- Takapau Queen

WAIPUKURAU, This Day. To augment the funds of the Takapau queen, Miss Lorna Edgecombe, a dance was held in the Hatuma hall on Friday evening. Owing, no doubt, to many other big counler attractions, the attendance was not as large as expected, but the muny daucers present, who liad come from various parts of Ihe district, spent a most enjoyable evening dancing to excellent music provided by the Buffalo orchestra. The delieious supper served by the ladies of the Hatuma committee was much appreciated by the dancers. Mr G. C. Edgecombe made a very effieient M.C. During the evening Mr A. Aldrich, vice-captain of the Takapau senior football team, on behalf of Miss Lorna Edgecombe' s supporters, presented her with a choice bouquet of daphne, freezias, and narcissi, wishing her every success and expressing the hope that she would emerge triumphant. Mr Aldrich then called for cheers, which were heartily gjiven. Miss Edgecombe briefly replied, thanking the committee and her supporters for all they had done. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss J. Matthews and Mr Stan Thomson, the prizc being donated by Mra John Williams, and a com.petition i'oi cake made by Mrs C. R. Edgecombe was was won by Miss I. Thomsen.
