MARAETOTARA-WAIMARAMA

The members of the MaraetotaraWaimarama Women 's Institute held their July meeting at Mrs Elliott'e liomo, Mrs Elliott presiding over a fair attendance of members aud five visitors. It was decided to hold tlie anuual ir.&tit'jtC party on July 24. An invitation was received fnm Mrs Baker, asking 10 of the members to the Haumoana Women's Institute birthday meeting in September. The roll call, "How to preserve that school-girl complexion" brought forth several good hints. Mise Campbell and Miss B. McKenzie, of the Maedcr Toilet Salon, gave a very skilful demonstration on haix-setting, followed by an interesting talk on the care of the hair. They were aecorded a very hearty vote of thanks. The writing of "Telegrams" caused ihuch laughter, and was won by Mrs Boese, Miss B. McKenzie being second. The monthly competition, six best violet blooms, was judged by Mrs Mc-' Kenzie and the award was as follows: Miss D. Long 1, Mrs G. Allan 2, Miss Smyllie 3. A refreshing afternoon tea was served by the hostesses and a happy afternoon ended with the singing of the Naticnal Anthem.
