Napier Women Defeat Technical SATURDAY'S RESULTS The hockey mateh in Napier on Saturday provided spectators with ple'nty of interest anl excitement, A high standard of play was xeachod iu ihe women 'a and mon'a senior games, aud spectators were keyed up to a high pitch in some of tho games, as tho turu of play soomed to favour first one eide and thon the otlier. On Nelson l'ark the Napier women 's tcam once more gave a display that offsct their, somewhat indiffereut forui in their earlier matches. With the osception of a'.few brief intervals in the second spell^ Technical Old Girls never looked liked scoring, the spleudid plaj of the whole of the Napier team completely dominating the position. Tbe bost the Tech.'s could do was to keep their opponents' 'scor-o down to a thr^e to nil inargin, which would have been much larger had not the Teeh. defence, partieularly that of the goalkeepev. been very souud. At Clive, tho Te Awa team, which was not quite up to its full strength, beat OUve by two goals to one. In the men's senior games, Taradale got back some of their lost prestige by defeating Scinde by two goals to one aftor a hard-fought and very evenlycontested game. Blakey, a junior who
had boen responsible for good play in a junior mateh earlier in the afternoou, was included in the Taradale senior team as a eubstitute and had the distinction of shootiug a goal in each oi" the two games in which he played. Kiwi gave Waratahs scarcely any t'ime to collect their thoughts in the game between these two teams, for they set a fast pace from the start, and that spankling forward play which has distinguished the Kiwis throughout the season, supportod by the spleudid back play of those behind tho forward liuet gave Kiwis the victory by six goala to nil. Tho junior games were all close, but hardly productivo of such good hockey as iu some of tho earlier matches of the season. On the day Taradale -wero better tliaa Kiwi Blue, who.se stich work was poor, many oppor tuni ties beiug allowed to slip through failure to tane the ball cleauly. Results: SENIOR WOMEN. Napier (3) v.
