TAX EVASION CHARGES

Accusation Against U.S. President WASHINGTON, Julf 10. JRepresentative Fish made a charge before the Congresaional tax investigation that Mrs. Eoosevelt avoided income tax payments by arranging to have the income she derived from wireless broadcasts paid directly to eharities. He also xeiterated the charge that President Eoosevelt was evading taxes by means of losses on his large estate which he charges off as a farm. He also mentioned Mr. Eoosevelt 's mother and son-in-law and several sons, Mr. Morgenthau (Finance Minister), Mr. Hopkins (chairman of the W.P.A.), and the C.I.O. leader, Mr. John Lewis, whose ineomes should be investigated. The committee refused to order an investigation into President Eoosevelt 's income. It is intimated that the President may make a statement in refuta,tion.
