(Bj Telegraph-
AUCKLAND, Last Night. Although extensive investigations are being carried out hy a large body of detectives and police no definite explanation of the mysterions . explosion that injured Mr. R. A. Singer on Friday night has been established. Pieces of tin found in the vicinity, however, are , considered to be part of a cannister that contained the bomb. i No trace has been found of anything that would suggest a set bomh that would explode tlirough contaet, possibly iiby the victim tripping on a string or wire, nor is it considered a time bomb was used. It is also indefinite what the bomb contained although from the amount discovered scattered about it is considered explosive and blue-stone were among the ingredients. Attention is now being direeted to the suggestion that the bonb was thrown, although here the question arises as to where anyone could stand to hurl the missile. Although Mr. Singer 's home is approached by a narrow drive parallel with Grafton road, thc house is well above the level of the street proper from which it would be most difficult to hurl the objeet up the intervening bank and into his garden with any degree of aecuracy. Little cover is offerqd on the left hand side of the path in which the explosion occurred, while on the other side the nearest shelter is the boundary hedge practically the whole width of the section away. Furtherjnore Mr. Singer 's taxi driver reports that he saw no one in the l vicinity.
