AMATEUR THEATRE: H.B. FESTIVAL NEXT MONTH
The Hawke's Bay Drama League will begin its 1937 festival on August 16 in the Municipal Theatre, Hastings. # # V " 'Twentieth Century Lullaby' stoei out for originality of thought and very clever production," Said Mr. Paul Latham, judge of the South Taranaki area of the British Drama League 's festival, which concluded at Hawera. "It was a llne linish to a vory line festival. I was moet pleascd at tho standard of production." # # #" "I am a faddist about audibxlity," said Mr. Latham. "I want the man dn the back seat to hear every word. I question whcther all the play reached far back into tho hall. Some of it did not reach me. You ean overdo tho minor note as yoa can overdo the niajor note. " # Fifteen plays wero presented at the South Taranaki festival. There was a four-night season? and the winning play, "Twentieth Century Lullaby," was entered by the Repertory Club. Many Hawke's Bay people will remember that this play was produced at the Drama School hold in Havelock Nortli in Mny, 1030.
