Havelock Town Board Attitude

MONTHLY MEETING

( 'They are not going to get it back from us if I can possibly help it," remarked Mr H. R. von Dadelszen, when the question of repayment oi' earthquake Ioans to the Government came np for dascussion at the monthly meeting of the Havelock North Town Board last evening. Correspondeneo on the subject was received from the Treasury, bnt it was decided to pursue a poliey of avoiding the repayment if such a course were possible. "I notice that Hastings has taken the matter up with the Hon. D. G. fSuilivan," added Mr von Dadelszen. The general feeling was that, as Napier had got dts loan as a gift, the other bodies should get the same. The meeting was presided over by the chairman, Mr von Dadelszen, and others present were Messrs A. R. Greenwood, A. Christie, A. Toop, W. Paton, J. J. Nimon, E. C. Stratton, and the clerk, Mr W. H. Anderson. The Napier Harbour Board advised that its levy on the board would amount to £87 14/10. The electric current consumed by the proposed town clerk would equal only one unit per week, stated a letter from the Hawke 's Bay Power Board. A progress payment of £75 was made to the Hawke 's Bay Hospital Board.
