NINE DEGREES OF FROST
Severe Cold This Morning TAPS AGAIN FROZEN Another nine-degrees frost Was experienced in Hastings this morning. The general consensus of opinion wa# that- to-day 's frost had been considerably heavier than yesterday's, but such was not the case. Certainly this morning 's frost was more severe. in soiuo parts of the town, and its effects were more marked. Even the water in taps .indoors Was frozen in some houses, and puddles of water were turned into hard ice. The frost wa« par* ticularly hard and white and remained on the ground for some time after the sun caine ont. With the heavy snow that has accu* mulated on the ranges, it can be taken for granted that there will be furthei severe frosts during the next few days, but indications point to a spell of settled weather, and the beautiful sunshine which usually follows t-ha frosts compensates for their severity. In the brilliant sunshine which iollowed this morning 's frost, the surrounding ranges presented a magniiicent sight, with the snow thicker than at any other time during the preseut winter.
