AUCKLAND, Last Night. In spite of the heaviest yarding of beef for some months, values were well maintained at Westfield to-day. Steers having been in short supply for a long time, the inereased entry in this seeton was partieularly welcome. AI- 1 though quality generally showed deterioration, better cows and heifers were available. Extra choice ox sold at 32/- a 100 lb., ehoice and prime 27/- to 31/-, upnfinished 24/- to 28/-; prime cow and heifer beef 24/ to 29/-, unfinished 17/- to 24/-; extra heavy steers £13 5/- to £14 2/6, heavy £11 10/- to £13 2/6, medium £10 10/- to £12, light £9 to £10 17/6, unfinished £4 to £8 17/6; .xtra heavy cows and heifers 8 15/- to £11, heavy £7 10/- to £9 5/-,. medium £6 10/- to £7 7/6, light £4 10/to £6 7/6, unfinished £3 to £4 15/-. Larger numbers of sheep were sold, but only a limited selecteon of prime lote were yarded. Prices for all grades, including an average quality assortment of lambs, maintained late improyed rates. Extra heavy wethers made 39/- to 40/3, heavy 34/6 to 38/-, medium 32/- .to 33/6, heavy 27/- to 29/6, medium 24/6 to 27/3, light 20/to 24/6, unfinished 13/- to 21/-; prime lambs 20/- to 32/-, unfinished 12/6 to 20/3. Calves were not up to the standard of last week's quality, but bidding was again keen for all prime sorts and firm values ruled. Runners brought £3 10/- to £7 1/-, heavy vealers £4 4/to £5 5/-, medium £3 14/- to £4 8/-, light £3 to £3 16/-, smaller £2 to £2 16/-, unfinished £1 8/- to £2 5/-«, bobby and rough " 5/- to 30/-. An average entry of baconers sold readily at recent quotations, pork improving toward the close of the sale. Quality was satisfactory. Choppers made £1 to £4; heavy baconers £4 to £4 17/-, medium £3 15/- to £3 19/-, light £3 6/- fo £3 12/-; heavy porkers £2 14/- to £3, medium £2 6/- to £3 13/-, light £1 18/- to £2 5/-, unfinished £1 to £1 15/-; stores 19/- to 25/-; slips 10/- to 17/-; weaners 5/- to 14/-. Baconers averaged 6|d to 7d a lb. and porkers 6d to 6£d.
