Sharp Advance in Fats at Addington PIGS IN STRONG DEMAND

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night Eat sheep made a sharp advance at to-day's Addington market, wethers being dearer by 3s to 4s a " head and good ewes by 2s! Eat cattle sold flrmly, likewise fat and store pigs, but vealers and dairy cattle were easier. Store sheep: Only a few pens were forward and there was a sound sale. Ewe, hoggets sold to 27s 3d and old ewes ' 'close to lambing at 20s 6d. i Eat sheep: The market was the dear.est for along time. The entry was jsmaller, the total being about 3700 head. | Wethers advanced by from 3s to 4s a Ihead and ewes of good class by ls 6d to |2s, lightor sorts being slightly easier. i Extra prime heavy wethers to 45s lOd, jprime heavy 35s to 39s, prime medium !weight 31s to 34s, ordinary 27s 6d to 30s; extra prime heavy ewes to 34s lOd, .prime heavy 27s 6d to 30s, prime medium weight 25s to 27s; ordinary ewes 20s to 24s, light ewes 13s to 19s. Eat cattlej An entry of 510 head as agains 500 last week. Good cattle showed a tendency to harden and a large amount of the heavy beef Tanged round about 33s per lOOlbs. Unfinished steers and ordinary cows scarcely maintained last week's rates. Extrh prime heavy steers to £17 17s 6d, prime heavy £13 to £14 15s, prime medium woight £12 to £13 5s, ordinary steers £10 to £11 5s; extra prime heifers to £13 10s, prime £8 5s to £9 10s, medium £6 5s to £7 -15s, light to £6; extra prime cows to £12 2s 6d, prime £6 to £S, medium £4 10s to £5 15s. ' Vealers: A good sale for small calves and a dragging sale for'other sorts. Big and plain calves did not meet with mu°ch demand. Prime heavy runners to £6 6s, heavy £4 to £4 10s, medium £2 15s to £3 5s; prime vealers £3 to £4 5s, medium 50s to £3, small calves 20s to* 47s. Dairy cattle: A poor quality lot. Spring calvers made up to £5 5s but the market was down by about 20s a head, best second and third calvers sold to £9 10s and heifers to £9. Store cattle: There were no quotable line. Eat pigs: Porker prices rose sharply. Baconers were penned in smaller numbers and competition was keen throughout. Choppers 43s 6d to £5 8s 6d; porkers, small 26s 6d to 35s 6d, medium 38s 6d to 44s 6d, good 45s 6d to 49s 6d, extra heavy 50s 6d to 55s 6d, average price per lb. 6Jd to 6fd; haconers, 54s 6d to £3 73 6d, heavy £3 12s 6d to £3 19s 6d, extra heavy £4 6s 6d to £4 19s 6d, average price per lb. 6d to 61d. Store .pigs: Pfices' were scarcely up to those of last week. Weaners wera easier by 2s to 3s a hSad; small weaners 7s 6d to 10s, good 11s to 13s, slips 15s to 16s 6d; small stores, 17s to 19s, mediuhi 20s to 24s, large 25s to 27s.
