( Bv Teleersnt

NELSON, This Day. Charged by the rdferee with punching an opponent following a warning for a similar offeuee and resuiting in his being ordered off the field in the Nelson-Old Boys senior.game at Trafalgai- Park on Saturday, H. F. M'CLfeau, a prominCnt player, appeared before last night 's meeting of the Nelson Rugby tJnion management committee. It was deeided that a reprimand would be a suffiCient peilalty, and after the presi-. dent -had carried out the committee decision the player told the union that it was wealc and did not know its duty. The player, who had denifed the charge, said: "In deciding on a petjalty 6f reprimand, I think, the union is weak." If the referee were right and the player could get away with it, then the union was not doing its duty, he added. McLean said that the fact that he happened to be captain of the fepre-. sentatives should not have influCnced the imion in its decision; The president replied that no lenicncy had befen shown on that aecount. All sides of the matter had been taken into consideration, and the union considered a reprimand to be a suiiici'ent penalty.
