Improved Yarding Sold To-day

MR MATTHEWS'S ENTRY An improved. yarding of cattle was offered at Waipukurau to-day, oonsisting chiefly cf draughts of lots on account of Mr H. W. White, of Whangar ehu, and store lines cf weaners on accoixnt of Mr R. Matthews, of Whakarara. Mr White 's heavy bullocks. solidly finxshed, realised £13 10/-, being fulJy on a par with late rates at Stortiord Lodge. Good-quality mediumframed Aberdeen Angus heifers on ac« count of Mr White brought £8 1/-. Mr Matthews Js weaners made a fine entry, shbwing good bteeding and being particularly well coated. All lines came forward in good order, being particularly healthy and hardy off high country. The Aberdeen Angus Hereford Cross steers made £5 and the similarly bred heifers, which should grow into a firstelass br eeding line, realised £3 7/6. Bidding was keen, and the sale of these ■ young cattle was followed with interest. FAT CATTLE ~ ^ On account of Mr. H. W. White, Whangaehu, six well-framed Aberdeen Angus bullocks, two showing a Here-ford-cross, being very solidly finished, a prime quality winter beef entry, sold in a line at £33 10/-. Also on account of Mr White, nine small to nxedium Aberdeen Angus cows carrying a lot of eondition but empty after being on the road for a few days, were passed at ££6 10/-. . From the same source a further- entry of similarly bred bullocks, well framed but iu much the same condition as thO first off-ering and requiring a fair amount of finishing, were sold at £10. Also iii from Whangaehu, a truck lot of eight Aberdeen Angus Herefordcross cows, large framed and in better order than the previous pen of cows, sold in a line at £7 10/-. Also on aceount of Mr. White, six Aberdeen Angus xnedium-framed heifers, prime* finished but ernpty and in good order, met the market at £8 1/-. A further entry of heifers from the same source but fn lighter condition were sold at £7 5/-. STORE CATTLE On account of Mr. R. MatthewSj Whakarara, 55 quite fairly grown Aberdeen Angus Hereford-cross weaner heifers, in bright healthy order, being well coated and having possibilitxes of developing into a good breeding herd. sold at £3 5/-. Also on account of Mr Matthews, 63 clean-bred medium-grown Hereford steers, in handy condition. off hard country, were passed at £4 5/-. A further entry from Whakarara of 90 quite well-grown Aberdeen Angus Hereford-cross weaner steers, showing good eoats and in good hardy condition, being a healthy high-country line, sold at £5. The Hereford weaner heifers, out from Mr. Matthews 's draft, medium grown and hardy, wero passed at £2 18/6. FAT SREEP.1^"' An entry of 21 medium-framed prime wethers, some showing a Down cross, sold at 31/9. Twelve small-grown, rather lightlyfinished wethers were passed at 25/-. In from Porangahau, 13 small-grown Down-cross hoggets in medium order sold at 19/-. « A pen of 11 aged ewes in very poor order, being very light, made 15/-, STORE SHEEP. In from Wanstead, an entry of .300 six-year ewes, poor-mouthed and runming with S.D. rams since March 15, brought 18/- after a slow sale. In from the Omakere district, 71 shorn wether lambs in hard condition made a good sale at 15/5. In from Springhill, 108 shorn me-dium-grown Eomney wether hoggets in healthy order sold at 18/9, A pen of 118 medium-grown woolly Homney* wether hoggets from Wakarara in good order and hardy, sold at 19/$. Qiiaecount of Mr. D. Tiffen, 185 twotooth ewes out with S.D. rams since March and showing up well in laffib, realised 34/1. These young ewes were in fresh eondition, having been well done. A good percentage were fine in the wooL On account of Mr, R, Meredith, 863 five and six-year ewes running with S.D. ram since February 28, sold at 21/9. A line of 180 six-year ewes in lamb to S.D. ram and very poorly mouthed, were passed at 11/-. These ewes were xn very hard condition for the reariug of lambs. In from Hatuma, a line of four and ltve year ewes in lamb to Southdown rams, in quite fexx order and carrying a good slipe, sold at 33/10. On account of Mr. A. W. Parsons, a line of five and six-year ewes depastu?ed With Southdown rams, brought 30/3. These large-framed, roomy ewes were well-wooled and were an earlyiambing proposition. Ihe line was in excellent condition and met with keen bidding. AJso on account of MA Parsons, an entry of medium-framed two-tooth ewes in lamb, in good cbndition and well woolled, realised 34/*Al entry of .very well--wt>oled Romney wether hoggets, in bright, fresh condition and in good store order, realised 20/2. On account of Mr, P. Haldane, 35 mxxed-aged, well-bred Southdown ewes in lamb to a stud ram were passed at 26/-. .■
