WELL-KNOWN YOUNG PEOPLE'S WEDDING
BOWMAN— DAMPNEY
St. John's Cathedral, Napier, was the ecene of a very pretty wedding on fcJar.urday evendng, when Muricl Julia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Dampney, of "Otoro," Ormondville, was united in holy matrimony to John Edward, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Bowman, of Napier. Dean Brockleharst officiated at tlfoceremouy aud Mr. Percy Tombs presided at the organ. Diiriug the service the hyiun "The Voice That Breathed O'cr iiden" was sung. The bride, wuo was escorted by hui father, wore au exquisite gowu oi parchmeut satin cut ou classical iines aud falliug auto a loug-poiuted traiu. The fuli sleeves aud rrain wcre appliqued with beautifully hand-embroi-clored desigu of water iiliee^ the soi't, high cowl neckline and plaited girdle bemg finished with clusters of orange bJossoms. Her long llowing veil oi parchmeut tulle formed a second traiii and was worn well off the iace with a pearl halo and sprays of orange bio.v soms. She carried a lovely bouquet oi cream roses and freesiae. Three maids attonded tho brido, Misscs Gwen Dampney, Elsie Barkor, and Beth Chadwick, and they wero t'rocked alike in gowns of mist-blue ripplo chilfon, the halter necklines of which were finished with diamanre buckles. Ruchings in the shape of horse-shoes trimmed the skirts aud their eiiiart coatees were ruched in the same desigu. They carried bouquets of piuk cycla'men and carnations aud small sprays of the same flowers were worn m their hair. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. Dick Ellingham, of Te Kuiti, and those of groomsmeu by Mr. Gordon Dassler, of Ormondville, ana Mr. Ron Hunt, of Wellington. Mrs. Dampney, mother of the bride, wore a gown of Lido georgette, having full pleated sleeves and a cowl aud yoke of hand-embroidered lace medallions, the wide belt being fuiisliod with a large Egyptiau buckle. She wore a peach- bloom hat and shoes to tone and carried a beautiful bouquet of red carnations. Mrs. Bowman the bridegroom 's mother, was attired iu a modei gowji of black georgette, the yoke of which was of black chantilly lace and a coatee of black panne velvet was worn and a sinart black hat. Her bouquet was of pink cyclamen. After the ceremony a reception aud dance were held at Joylands, the tables being artistieally decoratcd, and the lovely three-tiered wedding cake was iced in cream. The honeymoon is being spent in a motor tour of the'North Island. Mrs. Bowman travelled dn a tailored navy costume, smart navy vclour hat and navy accessories.
