HASTINGS BOWLING CLUB
Selection Committee of Three ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Hastings Bowling Club, held in the club pavilion. The annual report (already publislied) and the balance-sheet were read and adopted. Eight new members were elected and four resignations were received. It was resolved that one vice-presi-dent in place of two be elected, and also that the system of a sole seleetor for teams should be replaced by a committee of three. The election oi oflicers resulted as follows: — Patron, Mr. W. Bridgeman; president, Mr. D. M. Mclntosh; vicepresident, Mr. D. Watters; hon. secretary, Mr A. Wilson; hon. treasurer, Mr. F. J. Tonkin; hon. auditor, Mr. A. JX. Johnston; hon. solicitor, Mr. A. VV. Parkinson; hon. greens superintendent, Mr. D. F. McLeod; team selectors and classification committee, Messrs. F. King, J. E Hall and I. Crichton; management committee; Messrs. "W. Duff, F. King, I. Crichton, A. W. Parkinson, ti. O. Garland, R. Davies and A.,Christie; supervisor of club competitions, Mr. A. K. Johnston; games stewards (Saturday), Messrs. J. R. Esson, S Tayior and A. Hampton,' Thursday, Messrs. ti. O. Garland, F. J. Tonkin and A. Christie; Press steAvards, Messrs. S. O. Garland and J. R. Esson; tea stewaras, Messr?. J. E. Hall and S. Tayior; delegates to East Coast Jiowlmg Oontre, Messrs. J. R. Esson and J. E. Hall. A report on the work earried out on the greens during the year and proposals for the coming season from the greens superintendent, Mr. D. F. AlcLeod, was read and received. A motion complimenting Mr. McLeod and thanking him for the manner in which tho greens had been looked after was passed entliusiastically. It was resolved that the smaller grcen should be placed at tlie disposal of a group of women who proposed forming a croquet club# and a sub-committee was eet up to meet them and diseuss preparatory matters. Reference was made in complimentary ternis to the number of inter-club visits that had been held during the past season and to the manner in which the retiring president, Mrl A. Christie, had applied himself to tho social side of the game, to wh-iph had been due a great deal of the success attained by the club Votes of tlianks to the outgoing ofBcers and the Press concluded the meeting.
