Track Work at Trentham / BRIGADORE SCRATCHED V

et IBy Xeiegraph-

WELLINGTON, This Day. With a very heavy fog agam obscuring the discs during most of the working hours, practically none of the galloping' could be clocked at Trentham this moruing. Only those horses startiug from longer marks could be eaught, the fog never liffcing round about the half-mile and flve-furlongs. When the sun broke through about 10 o'clock it was warm but lacked drying, and the tracks will now be heavy and pasty for to-jnorrow. The first horses to school were Trisox (W. Kitto), and Snowy Dawq (V. Langford), who went over flve of the steeplechase fences, but could not be seen, as visibility at the time was less than a furlong. Later on, when it was clearer, Manawatu (A. McDonald) and Hunting Go (T. Boyle) both jumped the same flight, fence for fence, with Gay Box (V. Langford) traiFrig them some lengths behind. Ainong those whp impressed were Ronty, Southorn Blood, Boomerang, Maori Song, and Valmint, but many wero roissed. Nearly all the horses engaged at the meeting were on the tracks. Billy Boy, who pulled up sore yesterday, will not be starting, nor will Brigadore, and Sportdng Song is also an unlikely ruuner. Silver River has not made the trip. Silver Sight, who was slightly sore after the journey north, is a doubtful istarter, but a decision will not be ipade till to-morrow. Scratchings till noon were: Briga^ dore, Wellington Steeplechase (at . 10.15), aud iWjkomigit, all engasemonts,
