THE SPRINGBOKS' WIN
"A Deplorable Exhibition, VISITORS NOT TO BLAME (Received 5, 11.10 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 5. The Sydney Morning Herald's speeial representative, commenting on Saturday 's mateh, says that the Springbok s crushing defeat of a side that included flve members of Australia's Test team was a surprise. The game generally was disappointing, tho outstanding feature being the suecess of 19-year-old Bester on the right wing. Bester had never before played on tho wing, but be showed great dash. Mr Sid King, writing in the Dailv Telegraph, says that the composite team, dubbed "an Australian fifteen, " which played the Springboks, showed to what an utter farce these matches can descend. The Springboks were not extended at any part. It was a deplorable exhibition, which for the good name of Rugby Union must never be allowed to recur. Nel generously refrained from expressing the disappointment that the visitors felt at not being provided with a better flght. Towers said that a team can not be made in ten minutes Mr King adds, "The Springboks are not to blame. They did everything to keep the game open and fast and a gave a bright exhibition. The Australians did nothing constructiYe. "
