POINT-TO-POINT
Enjoyable Hunt Fixture at Mangateretere SATURDAY'S RESULTS A most enjoyable afternoon's sporfc resulted at the annual point-to-point race meeting held at Mangateretere on Saturday afternoon under the auspices of the Hawke's Bay Hunt.. All the events were contested with the utmost keenness, and the public were unanimous that this meeting was perhaps the most succesgful for many years. The attendance was much below last season's record, but the weather was such that enthusiasts from a distanqe were absent; also, non-hunting people were not tempted to make the trip out. Fortunately no rain fell duting the afternoon. The track was in exceiient condition, which was surprising after the week's rain, but in the haystack paddock the eontestants were "hock deep" due to the pasture just being put down in grass-seed. The Hon. H. A. Russell made quite a success of the starting with Messrs Duncan Holden, judge of the trails, and Oswald Nelson, judge of the racmg, giving entire satisfaction. At the conclusiOn of the last event the crowd gathered to fiee the presentation of trophies, beforo which Mr Russell, after thanking the people for their attendance and the owners of the properties raced. over i'or their kindness in again placing them at the dispos?1 of the hunt, called upon Mrs T. Sherratt, wife of the Master, to present the trophies to the successful owners. Eaeh recipient was loudly appluuded. Kesults : — LlGHTWEiGHT STEEPLECHASE About 2^ miles. PHRENOLOGY, Mr N.
