REGENT THEATRE
"ROMEO AND JULIET" Uf "Romeo and Juliet" an American critic writes : "Thds is a magnificently-produced, splendidly-acted, and profoundly moving picture. "Although Howard and Norma tShearer, as Romeo and Juliet, respectively, have the major roles, the fine success of the film is attributable, at least as much as it is to them, to the finished performances of the many subsidiary players who appear. "John Barrymore, for exampie — what a Mercutiol And Basil Rathbone, as Tybalt; magnificent old C. Aubrey Smith as Lord Capulet. It is a treat to watch them. "As Romeo, Howard has a role which is by no means as easy as it appears on the surface. This actor handled it in a manner that caUs forth uothing but admiration. "Those who recollect the number of years Miss Shearer has been in pictures will be astounded at the yonthi'ulnoss .she brings to her interpretation of Juliet. She not only looks young ; she is young ; and to this fresh ehann sb© adds an emotional deptli that reaehes its liighest poinfc when, al'ter lier marriage, she has to bid farewell to Romeo when he is forced to tiee to Mantua. "Much more could be written about this film. 1 will content myself with saying that it is a fine and lovely picture ; one that none should miss seeing."
