WRESTLING
Kirilenko and McCready JPatrons of wrestling are in for a rare treat in Friday nigbt when the Hawke's Bay Wrestling Association stage a special contest between Earl McCready. British Empire champion, and Matros Kirilenko, the Russian Cossack. McCready wiil be welcomed back to Hawke's Bay by hundreds of his admirers, and in selecting Kirilenko as his opponent the association has made a wise chdice as of all the wrestlers operating in New Zealand at present, none. is calculated to make McCready do his utmost than the Russian Cossack. In his last contest in Hastings Kirilenko was not able to show his hrilliant wrestling ability owing to his opponent showing a disinclination to go into a "referee's hold." Consequently very few holds were put on. It was easily eeen, however, that against a man more orthodox in his methods, Kirilenko would produce the holds as only a firstclass wrestler can. This, comhined with the fact that Kirilenko, along with Dean Detton, the present world champion, wero the only, two to check McCready 's string of wins in America after leaving New Zealand influenced the association in selecting the Russian as McCready' s opponent. Kirilenko wrestled McCready to a draw in Vancouver just recently, which shows the Russian's class. This is an excellent match 'in every way, and patrons are advised to make their reservations early at Hall's bookshop, 'phone 4061, where the box«plan is now open.
