CONTROL OF RACING
H.B. Club Committee Meets The Hawke's Bay Jockey Club Committee met at the racecoUrse yesterday. Present: Messrs G. 11. Beatson (chairman), F. P. Kelly, T. S. Morrin, J. A. Macfarlane. R. Gatenby, T. S. Roulston, J. D. Todd, T. H. Lowry, J Wedd, G. A. Maddison, Geo. Ebbett, and the Hon. H. A. Russell. A letter of thanks is to be sent to the Railway Department for providing excursion fares to the winter race meeting and also to the Transport Department for assisting to regulate the traffic on race days. It was deeided that the Gloucestei Qup be included in the programme for the spring race meeting. The totalisators committee reported that tlie adjustments . at the recent winter meeting were much more satisfactory, and it was deeided to write to Mr Spiller, the supervisor, expressing the committee' s appreciation and trusting that the improvement would be maintained in future. Appreciation was also ex^ressed for tbe assistauce and co-operation of the jockeys and trainers at the winter meeting, all of whom bad done their utnjost to hclp the com.inittee to run the races up to time. Ln view of tbe fact that wages and all charges had incroased, it was suggested that track fees should also be increased, but it • was unanixnously resolved that in the meantime they remain as they are. A balance-sheet for the winter meeting was submitted and considered very satisi'actory. It was deeided to hold the annual meeting on Friday, August 27.
