Secret Donor Pays His Fine (Received 3, 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, July 2, The payment of Dr. T. M. Johnstone's fine by a secret donor saves him from gaol. Dr. Johnstone was surprised at the payment pf his fipe and he does not know the identity of the donor. The Belfast Presbytery, at a special meeting, passed a resolution of sympathy and confidence in Dr. Johnstone, and expressed its indignation at the severity of his sentence. The meeting decided to obtain a legal opinion. Dr. T M. Johnstone, a former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, had been ordered to be jailed pending payment of a fine of £100 for contempt o± court. Dr. Johnstone criticised the King's Benck Division for granting a new licenee, and was told he could not appeal against the court 's sentence.
