More Equitable Distribution Desired WAIPUKURAU SUPPORT

WAIPUKUEAU, This Day. A more equitable distribution of motor taxation, sought by the Matamata County Council, has the support of the Waipukurau County Council. At to-day 's meeting of the latter body approval was given to the following remit:-— "That this council is of the opinion that the time is overdue for the more equitable distribution of motor taxattion, and as a means of enabling county couneils efficieutly to maintain roads other than main highways, we suggest a pouqd for pound subsidy on all rates for roading pitrposes. " This is the remit to be plac.ed before the conferenee of the Counties' Association in August by tlie Matamata Countv Council, which desires tlie (•ouncils. unanimoLis support of other county "Support of this will help us in the long run," eommented Cr, L. M. Monckton, in seconding a motion by the chaiTman, Mr. A. C. Russell, that the remit be supported. At to-day 's meeting of the council, Mr. A. C. Russell presided over Ora, T-L T, Wright, P. F. Wall, L. M. Monckton, J. F. A. Swiuburn, A. W. , Elliott| and M. Tansey.
