SUCCESSFUL RED CROSS BALL IN HASTINGS

Attractive Ballets Give Variety to Programme

Always one of the most successful balls of the season, that arranged by the Hastings branch of the Red Cross Society attracts a large number of dancers, and last evening's ball, held in the Hastings Assembly Hall, vras no exception to the rule, as several lumdreds of dancers enjoyed a particnlarly jolly evening. The hall was gaily decorated with a red and white canopy over head, the centre and coloured streaniers radiating out to the walls, where wero hung posters of thp Junior Red Cross. On the stage were set . ejisy chairs and sofas, . *with a background of red and white flowers, and a central bowl of tall blue paper dephiniums.

Mrs J. Landels and Miss Connie ^ymes had arranged the table decorations in the supper-room, and spent much time and trouble on their effective scheme with bowls of fme twigs decorated with tiny red and white paper flowers. A delieious supper had beon arranged by Mrs T. A. Hill, and this was enjoyed by evervone, the V.A.D's giving assistance in looking ".t'ter the dancers. The ball was most successfully organised by Mrs Selwyn Chambers and Alrs R. Cashmore, and to thern and their willing committee of helpers and the secretary, Mr L. 'J'.
