H.B. Hunt Meeting at Mangateretere TO-MORROW'S ATTRACTION

The annual point-to-poant meeting oi the Hawke's Bay Hunt will be held at Mangateretere to-morrow on properties kindly lent for the occasion by Messrs Oawald Nelson, Erie Nelson and S. R. Beachen. The course is in exceilent condition for this kind " of sport, and fairly stiff fences have been erected, The admission charge as but two shillings per head, and motor-cars will be admitted free. The first event begins at 1.30 p.m. Proceedings open with the Lightweight Steeplechase, run over two and a-half milcs and which promises to be a most even and interesting race, as the runners are all an exceilent condition. The Ladies' Trial has brought forth a big entry, and this event is one of the mosfc keenly contested of all. This is over a selected course of jumps, and the publie can rest assured of witnessing some of the best horeewomanship possible in the Dominion. The Heavyweight Steeplechase ia also over two miles and a-half, and, like the eariy 'chase, will be keenly contested, with such proved fences as Dusky (second last year), Harkaway, King Kong, Brxght Light (from Tasinania), Pardon, Tally Ho, Bowyang, Oft'a and Jack competing. The Open Steeplechase, like the other events, will furndsh eomethixxg well worth seeing with Count Willonyx (second last week at Dannevirke), Dozie (winner of the Park Steeplechase last month), Hint, Sabatiui and others makixxg the entry. The Men's Trial will complete the afternoon 's sport. This is a most interesting contest, the horses being sent over hurdles made up into a fold. The jumping and turning are most diifieult, the manners of the horse and the rider's ability contributing a great deal towards the result.
