NEW MEMBERS WELCOMED AT HASTINGS WOMEN'S CLUB

New members of the Hastings Women 'a (Jommunity Club were especially weicomed at the meeting yesterday afternoon, and the charming tidea of preseuting each with a little coat posy was greatiy appreciated. The prosentations were made by the cliib president, Mrs T. H. Lowry, who introduced each member and spoke a few wordB of wekome. Quite a touch of spring was introduced with the fioral decorations, the bowls having early bulbs, iceland popp-ies and mimosa arranged with foliage. A tnusical programme had been arranged by Mrs Gordon Roach, and every item was .well applauded, the members showing their obvious pleasure. Mrs H. S. Eobinson opened the prugramme with two delightfully-played piano solos, "The Star of Eve" (Tannhauser), and a Brahms waltz. These were followed by vocal solos, "All Suddenly the Wind Comes Soft" (Alaxi Burr), the words by itupert Brooke, and "Sea Wrack" (Hamilton Harty), eung by Mrs Rees Kemp, who responded to a very hearty encore with "tFive Eyes" (Armstrong Gibbs). Mrs H. W. Dowling played two violin solos, "Mazurka" (Wieniawski) and' "Canzonetta" (d'Ambrosio). Mrs Ulric Williams delighted her liateners with two vocal solos, "The Lass With the Delicate" Air" and "Comin' Thru the Rye." Mrs W. A. Greer and Mrs Rees Kemp eang two vocal duets, "The Passage Bird's Farewell" and "O Wert Thou an the Cold Blast," both by Mendelssohu, their two voices combinmg beautifuily and giving great pleasure to the audience. A delicious afternoon tea was served in the adjoining room, aud afterwards a very clever reading of the play, " Sldw Curtaih," by Mu'riel and Sydney Box, was given, the cast being as follows: — Malvina, an actress, Mrs George Davies; Freda, her secretary, Mrs Brunton Williame; Miss Hall, M.A., O.B.E., Mrs H. Lovell-Smith; Dorothy, Mrs K. E. Crompton; Delia, her daughter, Mrs O. C. Moller; Sloper, an old dresser, Mrs E. V. Simpson; directions, Mrs J. Wright. Aniong those present were: Mrs T. H. Lowry, Mrs H. W. C. Baird, Mrs H. Lovell-Smith, Mrs J. Wright, Mrs B. Puflett, Miss Helen Ford, Mrs G. Stevene, Mrs E. Riiey. Mrs S. Oliver, Mrs W. E. Taylor, Mrs G.
