Refusal To Enter Race

* ■* — w** wuuuiii innp i. ^ OBMOND VILLE, Last Night. Some excitement was caused on Saturday afternoon by the antics of a Polled .Angus steer, which utterly refused to enter the gate of the railway race with Jiis compauions. Presumably ko disliked his introduction to a townskip from his backblock home, and did not trust his compauions- to lead him, for he fled up the Norsewood road, pursued by dogs and men, and when headed for the township again, leapt in and out of paddocks. A couple of quieter members of the mob were brought along the r&ad as eseort, but he would not follow them. AJter repeated efforts made by one horsoman and three other men, and about five dogs, two quiet dairy cows were driven along the road as chaperons, and the animal consented to follow them with a couple of his black brothers. Possibly he was tired, as were his drivers, but he became much less aggressive. At one time he seemed prepared to charge the horseman, so it was fortunate that it was a quiet time for traffic and no children were on the road.
