Enjoyable Evening at Takapau

TAKAPAU, Last Night. The annnal rennion of the Takapau branch of the Eeturned Soldiers* Association was held in the Takapau Public Hall on Monday evening. Mr. F. de Stacpoole, president of the" branch, presided. There was a large attendauce of Tetnrned men from Takapau and district, as well as E.S.A. guests from Waipawa, Waipukurau, Dannevirke, Ormondville, and Norsewood; members of the Hawke's Bay War Relief Association and members of the local Territorial Mounted Eifles. The evening took the form of a smoke concert, the following cuntributing appreciated items: — Mr. E. G. Collin (songs), Mr. N. M. Tilley (songs), Mr. Dolan (violin solos), Mr. C. H. Pease playing the accompaniments. The toast list was as follows: — The King; E.S.A. (Mr. H. M. Christie, M.P. — Mr. de Stacpoole); Visitors (Mr. A. O. Le Leivre — Mr. Limbrick, Waipawa); Absent Comrades, Mr. M. J. McKenna; Territorials (Mr. W. M. Paulsen— Captain Selby); Hawke's Bay War Eelief Association. (Mr. N. Tilley — Chairman of the Takapau Branch, Mr. E. F. Stubbs); The Anzacs (Mr. Limbrick— Mr. H. M. Christie and Mr. A 'Deane, Waipawa). The evening, which was a, very enjoyable one, was well arranged, and those present spent a pleasant time in song and sentiment.
