Further Activity in Waipukurau

WAIPUKURAU, This Day. Over 70 were present at a combined doubles tennis competition in the Toc H hall last night, organised in aid of Miss Shirley Clay, Waipukurau candidate in the Central Hawke's Bay Rugiby Sub-Union's Queen carnival. Three tables were in use and the evening was ap outstanding success, both sqcially and financially. The winners were : Mrs W. B. Fisher and Mr J. Swainsbury. At the conclusion cf the matches, iinpromptu dancing was continued until after midnight, while novelty competition s added to the enjoyment of the eveiiing. The Waipukurau queen committee is grateful to Toc H for the use of the hall. At a meeting yesterday afternoon it was decided that the commdttees working in the interests of Miss Clay and Miss J. Ormond, Porangahau candidate, combine in organising a gipsy ball. This is to be held in the theatre at Waipukurau early in July, and the proceeds will be divided between the two eommittees.
