HAWE'S BAY HUNT
Annual Race Meeting nominations due fr1day Tfie programme for tfie annual race meeting of tfie Hawke 's Bay Hunt Club will be held on the Hastings Raceeourse on Saturday, July 17. There will be three races for qualified hunters, the Okawa Hack» and Hunters' Hurdle Race, the Hawjce's Bay Hunt Cup Steeplechase, and the Soutra Hunters' Flat Handicap. The hurdle event is run over a mile and a half, and outside the "hacks," some very promising young tfiorougfibreds wfio have qualified will be seed in action. The Hawke 's Bay Hunt Cup Steeplechase, whieh carries £100 stake and a cup valued at 20 guineas, is over a distanee of about two miles and a-fialf. A couple of years back Luna LUx opened his winning aecount in this race, and the last National winner that won the H.B. Hunt Cup was Sturdee, so tfiat it is quite probable tfiat something outstandiug tfiis season will make a start in tfiis race. Tfie Hunters' Flat horses will be ridden by amateur riders, and this always proves a very interesting contest, both from a raeing and hunting point of view. The otfier events on the programme are the Okawa Maiden, for two-year-olds and upwards, 5$ furlongs; a mile abd a-quarter and a six-furlong hack race; and tie Tikokino Handicap (open) 6i furlongs. Owners and trainers are reminded taat nominations for all events close with the secretary,. Mr. A. E. Wishart, at the Hastings Raceeourse Tea Kiosk, on Friday, next, July 2, at 8 p.m.
