AUCKLAND, Juna 28, i Radio direction-finding equipment for Cuvier and Moko Hino Islands, at the entrance to Hauraki Gulf, is to be. plaeed on order immediately, stated the Minister of Marine (the Hon. P. Fraser) to-day, Difficulty had been experienced ia obtainifig snch eqnipnient from England, but two beacon? were on the Port Bowen, which was due at Wellington on July 11, Thfee stations would be oquipped in CoOk Strait-— Baring Head, ■ Cape Campbeli, and^Stephens Island— j and these would be followed by the two stations mentioned in Hauraki Gulf. Mr. Fraser said he ekpected that the Baring Head -station would bs in operation in August. The lights at these stations were being converted from oil-burning to electricity, thus reducing the need for supervision.
