ARCHBISHOP IN CELLAR

Escaping Fury di Polish Mob CRACOW "(Poiand), June 2*. The septuagenari&u Arehbishop Sapioha took refuge in a cellar when crowds were demon3trating against the rsmoval of M'arshal Pilsudski's coffin from the cathedral. They smashed the palace windows. ArchbishOp Sapieha was unable to attend the Euchariatic Congress at Poseu. The Pope has ordered the Papa! Nuncip to use discretion to settle the dispute, As a fesiilt of this thh Papai Nunpio vigjted Kiug Carol after his arrival,

A message from Cracow last week stated that violent demonstrations had occurred outside the palace of the Papal Nuneio. Thou-sands of people assembled and demanded the iwmediate dismissal of the Arehbishop of Cracow, Monsignor Sapieha, for removing the heavy silver coifin containing the remains of the iate Marshal Pilsudski from the Tomo of Kings in the Cathedral, in defiance of Poland's President, The coifin was removed when the Arehbishop learned that King Carol of Rumanla was to place a wreath on Marshal Pilsudski 's tomb when he arrived :in Cracow on gaturday. It is underStood that the Arehbishop 's deeision was due not only to the non-Catholic religion but also to the private lifc oi King Carol.
