MISS J. SPENCER SPEAKS TO W.C.T.U. Members

. Miss Jerome Spenoer was the speaker at the monthly meeting of the Women 's Christian Te'mperance Union which was held in the Wesley Hall. She chose as her subject: "Money s the Boot of all Evil. ' ' She said that the W.C.T.U. Snd other allied bodies in the fight for peace and purity found that this was so. Miss Spencer, in a clear statement, detailed how the eurrency was made and how the various banking coneerns operated, and the general effect trade, finance and production had npon empleyment. She advised all women to make themselves conversant with these things. At the conclusion of Miss Spencer 's address Mrs. J, Wilson, who presided, thanked her for her interesting talk, and presented her with a dainty shoulder spray from the memhers. During the afternoon a cup of tea was handed round by the social committee, and was en joyed by all. A resolution of sympathy was accorded the secretary, Mrs. H. Buckingham, on the death of her father. Tt was decided to support the* resolution which is being forwarded to the Government asking that the sale of alcohcdic beverages in or near dance halls be prohibited. The meeting eiosed with the Doxology.
