PERIOD FROCKS WORN AT LITTLE THEATRE PLAY
Charming period frocks were an attractive feature of "Hobson's Choice," the four-act play by Harold Brighouse, which was presented by members of the Hawke's Bay Little Theatre Society in the Hastings Municipal Theatre last evening. In the first act the three sisters, Maggie (Margaret Nutter), Victoria (Christina Williams) and Alice (Edna Rainey), wore frocks of black satin fashioned in the style of the 1880 period, and having little collars of lace. Mrs Hepworth (Alix Rochfort) wore a bustled gown of deep petunia satin, with gold lace cape edged with a ruched frill, and her bonnet matched her gown, Ada Figgins (Phil Davies) wore a black skirt and apron with white blouse and rust shaded shawl. In the second act Maggie wore a tunic irock of light brown crepe sbirred up the back and l'ront and over a fuil skirt of brown figured silk. Her brown hat was trimmed with an ostrich plume. Victoria wore a plaid taffeta skirt with red jumper-blouse and navy bonnet and Alice wore a gown in the same period bustled style with blue juinper over blue checked skirt and a red hat. In the fourth act Magtj e's black and ' white figured blouse was worn over a black fringed skirt and pink flowers trimmed her black hat.
