Society Membership AndFinances presidentT review The satigfaetqry positiou of the mepibership and finanqes " of the Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Soeiety was the subject of comment at the annual meeting oi the socaety in Napier tliis morning by the president, Mr J. H. Absolom. The spring show last year, he said, had been the best, from' a financial point of view, for eight years. "Members are to be congratulated not only on the show but on the ffnan-. cial result, which is the best since 1929, almost double that of 1934, and mai* than double that of the Royal Show of 1935," said Mr Absolom. "I wisb alsoto congratulate both town and country members for thefr wonderful snpporL The receipt of £23,176 in 12 years, with an average of £1976 over that periocj, must be a record for any show in the Dominion. I wish "to stress the importance of keeping up the membership. "The autuxnn show, from an exhibition poant. of view, was the best the, society has had for some years, and, but for the infantile paralysis, the fmancial position must have. been greatly improved. "I don't know of any society in the Dominion that has gone ahead in the way our society has/* he continued. "We have a lot of wonderful men on the society" who have done very good work and are responsible for our success." . The president referred to the credit balance of £808 18/3 in the farin account and moved a vote of thanbs to Messrs J. H.. MacNiven, W. H. Campbell, C. E. West, and D. Fernie for their work and assistance in this respect. ,
