Rain Stops Waterfront Worfc At Auckland
(By Telegraph—
A U uJxij AiN J-i, Kiasc iNignt. Between 400 and 500 tons of inward cargo were carried back to Sydney by the Huddart Parker motor-liner Wanganella which left Auckland at 5 o'clock on Saturday afternoon. Rain on Saturday prevented all cargo work on the waterfront. Although labour was engaged for three hours in the' mormng for the Wanganella, very little outward cargo was taken by the motor liner, the company being forced to shut out consignments and to meet the convenionce of passengers and mails, the Wanganella was despatch'ed on time. The wet weather resulted in delays to the Northern Steamship Com* pany vessels and the departure of the Union Company 's Waipiata for Wellington was postponed until to-morrow.
