WELCOME HOME DANCE FOR MR. & MRS. A. CARSWELL

Many friends from far aud uear attended a "Welcome Home" dance, given on Thursday in the Puketitiii Hall by Mr and Mrs D. Carswell, "Woodside," Puketitiri, in honour oi' Mr and Mrs A. Carswell. More than one hundred g/uests were present, showing the great popularity of and esteem in which botli the host and hostess and jthe guests-of-honour are held by their many friends. The splendid music, supplied by tbe Buifs' Orchestra, .Napier, iieiped in no small measure to make the evening such a complete success, and great appreciation of their efforts was 6hown Oy the dancers. Extras were played by Mr C._ Kirkam and Mrs A. Carswell. During the evening interludes in the dance programme were much enjoyed. Mrs 1/ Hayes sang very sweetly and was recalled for an encore. Later at the request of those present, she sang again, being recalled for a second songi. Much fun and laughter was caused by the "Musical Parcels" game, which was eventually won by Mr H. McNeill. Mrs Liddington and Mr A. Wilson won the Monte Carlo waltz, cach receiving a small prize. A band of willing , helpers dispensed a daiuty savoury supper, which all present enjoyed. At the conclusion of the evening, Mr E. Skinner, on behalf of those present, expressed his thanks to Mr and Mrs D. Carswell for their hospitality and extended to Mr and Mrs A. Carswell the best wisheg of the cwnpany for their future prosperity and happiness. Cheers were given and "For They are Jolly Good Fellows" was ' sung heartily. "Auld Lang Syne" and the National Antheip btought to an end the very pleasant evening. Among those present were: Mr and Mrs A. Carswell, the latter in deep eream satin fashioned on Grecian lines and white fur coat ; Mr and Mrs D. Carsw.ell, the latter in navy; Mr and Mrs D. J. Kirkham, Hastings, Mrs Kirkham wearing a frock of Coronation blue figured silk: Miss E. Carswell, pink matalasse Mp and Mrs F. Hayes, the latter wearing a frock of black Jace and a white coat.
