John's Last Voyage The old. coastal steamer John which has been lying at Clyde Quay for some tinie, ds being dismantled and is shortly to make her last voyage, this time round to Evans Bay where she will be run ashore and broken up for scrap by local merchants, to- wliom she has been sold. — Wellington. Backstroke Record A new mark for the New Zealand intermediate girls ' 100 yards backstroke was se't in the munieipal baths last night by Joyce McDonald, whose time was 77 4-5secs. Her time was only 1 2.-5sec. outside the New Zealand women 's record held by Miss Ena Stockley. — Invercargill. Visit Cancelled The secretary of the New Uducational Fellowship Conference, which is to be held shortly tkroughout New Zealand, has received cabled advice that Mr Geoffrey Dennie. chief of the docnment serviees dn the Secretariat of tho League of Nations, and author of the recently-published ' ' Coronation Commentary," is unable to proceed on an offieial mission to New Zealand and Australia owing to unforeseen eircumstances. — -Wellington. Ministers Meet In order to meet the Premier of Victorda, Mr A. A. Dunstan, who will reach Auckland by the liner Niagara on Monday, 'after spending five months abroad, the acting-Premier and Minister of Water Supply and Eleetrical Undertakings, Mr F. E. Old, M.L.A., arrived from Australia by the liner Wanganella. The meeting at Auckland was arranged to allow the two Ministers to disc-uss certain policy matters on thereturn trip across the Tasman in readiness for the opening of the Vietorian Parliament on July 6. They will also eOnsider the case that Victoria will present at the Loan Council which will meet in Cauberra on July 15.— Auckland.
