"EARLY TO BED"
Springboks Routine Is Altered TOO MUCH HOSPITALITY (Received 24, 8.45 a.m.) ' SYDNEY, June 23. According to the newspapers, the Springboks have not yet recoverod from their decisive defeat by New South Wales last Saturday.' There are repeated hints that the overwhelming hospitality lavished upon them was largely responsible. The manager, Mr. Percy Day, has sent a letter to each membpr of the team. politely requesting them to be in their hotel not later than 11.15 every night; to proceed oi/ect to their fooms and not to enter the lounge. The players are requestod to be in bed not later than 10 p.m. on the night before a match, and are specially enjoined to smoke and drink as little as possible to ensure • their fitness. The captain, Philip Nel, is taking the team for a car ride to the bush next Saturday morning to enable* the players to eseape "windy" people who ! do nothing but talk Eugby. Nel insists . that the players rnust get away froin the atmosphere of football. Twenty-seven of the Springboks had a valuable piactice yesterday and again to-day. M, Bester also practised, sliowing no signs of the injury he received on Saturday.
