Mr. Pat Monckton, of Waipukurau, !eft yesterday for Christchurch, to visit friends. Mrs M. Clark, of Levin, has been on a brief visit to Mrs Herries, of Vietoria street, Hastings. Mr C. E. Stewart. for many years a l'armer in the Nuhaka district and now living in Napier, is on a visif to his liome district again. Mr D. J. Gibbs, treasurer and assis-tant-secretary to the Wellington Harbour Board, after 40 years' service is retiring on superannuation. His '• resignation, which is to take effect as from November 30, was aceepted with deep regret by the board last night.
