WITH THE HOUNDS
Cold Day for Meet at Washpool HARES SEEK COVER [Contributed.] Hounds met on Friday at Tlie AVash[Jooi, by courtesy of Mr Howard GlazeorooJk, and the liunt wras taken out to draw the flats behind the homestead by Mr A. P. White, in the unavoidable absence of the Master. It was a bitterly cold day, and scent was poor. The first hare found rau to the ixills and through the boundary fence to Greenhill, wbere, after a long check, hounds got their line again and returned to Mr Glazebrook 's countrv, but the hare again ran to Greenhill and hounds failed to find scent on the exposed side of the hills. After this several hares were found, but all sought cover on the hills, where the cold wind made it impossible for sc-ent to hold, and hounds had to be .whipped off. The deputy-Master made a move to the ploughed ground to the left of the Washpool house, and here got the best run of the day. Starting late owing to the Hunt ball being held that niglit, it was too late and cold to persist, and hounds came in at 4 p.m. The gratitude and thanks of the Himt go to Mr and Mrs Glazebrook for their countrv and their entertainment.
