CARD EVENING FOR HASTINGS BRIDE-TO-BE
A happy gathering of about 20 lady croquet players and their husbands were welcomed at tKe lio-me of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Bennett, Tomoana road, Hastings, last Friday evening in honour of Miss- Carrington, who is shortly to be married to Mr. Lang. The evening was spent playing bridge and "500." The largest bridge seore was Mrs. Ashwortli's, with Mr. * C. Watkins second, while in "500" Mrs. F. Petersen was first and Mr. G. White second. • A mystery prize, of a beautiful linen supper clotli, donated by Miss Millichamp, was won by Mr. Bees Davies, and afterwards Mrs. Bees Davies kindly presented it to the guest of honour. After a very delieious supper Mr. H. P. Stratton ou behalf of all present wished the bride-to-be every happiness in her married life and presented her with a well-filled purse. Mr. Lang, on behalf of his future bride, suitably replied, thanking everyone for their kindness. The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" and "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows" brought to a close a jolly evening.
