Annual Meeting of Committee

WAIPAWA, This Day. The annual general meeting of- the Waipawa Dental Clinic was held bn Friday evening. Present: Messrs W. E. Yates (chairman),' D. H. Edwards, J. A. Kcrr and Mrs Adeane. An apology for non-attendance was tendered on behalf of Mrs Preston. Tlie balance-sheet was adopted. Mr S. W. Strang was appointed t-o the position of chairman, in place of Mr Yales, who had resigned, as he was leaving the distriet. ' The members of the old committee were re-elected with power to add. A lettler is to be forwarded to thc Ongaonga, Ruataniwha and Tikokino schools with reference to the work of the clinic. The report of the chairman was follows: It is with very sincere regret that I have tio report the death of Mrs M. G. Bibby, wlio had been secretary to the Waipawa Dental Clinic for a number of years. The late Mrs Bibby was specially interested in clinic work, having done yaluable work gratis for the clinic. The .committee is pleased to notie the large number of children receiving treatnieut at the Waipawa clinic over the past tvelve nionths, this shQwixig tliab parents are taking more iriterest in the .children 's teeth. Nurse Masters has proved lierself a capable and effi-. cient officer.* - ? The thanks of Ihe committee are due to the Waipawa Borough Couneil, for the donat.ion of £15, the Waipawa County Couneil £6, the Patangata County Oouncil £g 2/-, and tho school committees .in the distriet and parents for paying tlie childreu's fees. The tihauks of tho committee are also duo to all those who liax-e provided transport for children attending the clinic. It will be noted from Ihe . balancesheet that thc rcccipt|s do not cover the outgoing payments. Therefore, I wonld respectfully suggest to tbe iucoming committee that they ser'iously consider tlie question of building a standard clinic 011 tlio new school sile, as the present deiital clinic room is not a syitable one form Ihe poiiit of view. of tho Dental Clinic Dcpartment, and ] am surc, l'rom your own observations, ihe appoiuHncnts of the present rooms not in tho bcst interests of tbe children attending same, nor the dental officer, wlio has to carry out sucli essential work of caring for the teeth of the children. 1 Avisli to express my thanks to all the members of the committee, also the dental officer, Nurse Masters, for tlieii assistance, which has been so readilv given atj all times.
