Mr. Robert Staines, Waipukurau

WAIPUKURAU, This Day. Mr Robert Staines, of Porangahau road, Waipukurau, died suddenly yesterday morning, as the result, it is thought, of heart failure. He had been working in Staines and Sons' furniture shop for the past few weeks, ahd'went to work as usual yesterday morning. He seemed particularly well and cheerful, but, when a carrier called at. the offlce at about 9.45 yesterday morning, he found Mr Staines lying on the floor. Dr. W. B. Fisher was immediately summoned, but could only pronounce life extinct. Mr Staines had suffered from heart trouble for some years. Mr Staines^ who was 54 years of age, came to Waf pukurau when he was about eight years of age, and has lived here ever since. In his younger days he was a keen athlete, being particularly interested in running and gymnastics. He was a cabinetmaker by trade aud served his apprenticeship with the lato Mr W. Condie. He leaves a widow and one son, and is &jirvived by one brother, Mr F. - Staines, of Gaisford Terrace, and one sister, Mrs G. Cook, of Porangahau road. The deep sympathy of many friends will be extended to the relatives in their bereavement.
