Government Policy Discussed

(By Telegraph

WELLINGTON, Last Night. Many subjects concerning Government policy were discussed at the caueus of Government members of th'e legislature held to-day. These covered a wide field, ranging from the cost of living to dairy zoning and the work of the Executive Commission of Agriculture with a view to eliminating over--lapping in the collection of cream supplies. Expectations .that the caucus would couclude to-night were not realised, and discussions will be resumed to-niorrow. There was a large attendance of members, all absentees being accounted for. The caucus was tho eecond held since the departure.of the Prime Alinister, Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, from New Zealand at the end of March. It was explained by influential members of the party that there was no special significance in holding the caucus during the absence of Mr. Savage and the other members of the Ministry. The holding of a caucus during the Parliamentary xecess was rnerely indicative of the party '« policy in keeping members fully informed oa matters of policy. The caucus also gave members au opportunity to put on record the reactions of the pubiic to the Government 's legislation. At the conclusion of the meeting to--night Hon. P. Fraser, acting-Prime Minister, stated that the matters discussed included those affecting the cost of living, housing, including rents for Government houses, the present nnemployment situation, dairy zoning, internal marketing and the general quostion of economic policy. Questions likely to be discussed tomorrow included broadcasting and the Governmont's policy in regard to B stations.
